Untangling the Name

Ditoui was started by Charlie Scott and is a reflection of his particular approach and sensibility. Pronounced in French, Charlie's initials (C.S.) sound a lot like "say yes" in English. Flip those two words back into French and you get “dit oui”. And that’s how Ditoui was born.

Why does this wordplay matter? Because the name Ditoui represents the idea that we’re the sum of what we say yes to. The people, places, and things we choose as we move through life create a pattern, a breadcrumb trail that reveals who we are.

Ditoui is about making those choices count. Ditoui is a clear and distinct voice in a sea of sameness. It's a filtering approach powered by decades of experience and a highly subjective opinion about what has real flavour, real character, real depth.

Who is Charlie?

An entrepreneur, strategist, writer, photographer, design aficionado, and master traveller. He's a curious cat with heaps of enthusiasm and a frisky sense of creativity. He's non-traditional, highly visual, and artistically minded.

But that's only half the story. He's also a critical-thinking, efficiency-loving, ultra-reliable sort of guy. Wildly imaginative, without being flakey.

Charlie has spent over 30 years in the travel business. He's researched, planned, and guided trips through Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas (North, Central and South). He's built brands, managed operations, dealt with unanticipated chaos when things go sideways halfway around the world. He has an intuitive ability to understand a traveller’s needs and a sixth sense for finding and delivering outstanding experiences. He understands the exact moment in a trip when you need emptiness versus when you need intensity. Charlie’s global black book of contacts and knowledge is thicker than War & Peace and juicier than a wagyu filet.

Charlie lives in Quebec's Eastern Townships in a house he helped build and drives around the countryside in a Land Rover that's older than he is. He continues to travel constantly.

Charlie works independently much of the time, but collaborates with other people and organizations as and when it makes sense—kind of like an international art thief who pulls together a crack team for a specific heist. Except he’s an artist, not a thief.
